I ordered my food. She took my money with a dead expression on her face and gave me the receipt. I was invisible to her and clearly, she didn’t want to be there. To lighten things up I asked her, "what's your favorite thing to do when you get home after work?" A smile spread across her face like sunshine and instantly she replied, "oh take a shower," and giggled as if she’d been eyeing that prospect all day. “yeah definitely take a shower.” I replied, “mmmmm good choice,” and walked away and returned to my depression.

I'm obsessed with speed, particularly slow. When I go slow it opens new doors of insight, constantly. The challenge is that emotions come alive and suddenly you find yourself in uncharted parts of your own brain. slow makes you vulnerable. It takes courage and humility and self-compassion is king because without that there’s no compassionate order. Without self-compassion, we get shame and blame and nothing changes. Changemakers slow down, step back, and speed up with inner clarity.
